If you are the partner of a New Zealand citizen or resident or, in some cases, a Student Visa or Work Visa holder you may qualify for a Partnership Based Work Visa.
This type of visa is particularly valuable. It overcomes the ‘Catch 22’ situation that many migrants face where employers will not even interview them for a job unless they have a visa that entitles them to work. This is because the Partnership Based Work Visa is an open visa. The employer is not required to advertise job (see Labour Market Test in Essential Skills), nor are you tied to a particular employer.
To qualify for this visa you will need to prove that your relationship with your partner is genuine and stable and that you have been together for some time. Talk to us about the partnership proof requirements for a Partnership Based Work Visa.
